Our History

Bell Drapery & Cleaners is a family-owned and operated business, with a twist. For more than 35 years the Jordan family has provided conscientious, customer-centered dry cleaning and drapery cleaning services to the residents of Central Phoenix.

  • It Starts in 1979

A brief history of our company starts in 1979 when Mary and Asa Jordan moved to Arizona from the mid-west. Their plan was to retire in Phoenix as small business owners. They found their opportunity wrapped in the form of a dry cleaning business. The original owners housed the company in a small, innocuous building at Thomas Road and 16th Street.

  • 1991

In 1991, Michael moved to take over the reigns of this family-owned and operated business, assisting with the design and location of a new operations plant.

  • 2004

Michael secured the Arizona franchise for Certified Restoration Drycleaning Network (CRDN) and is today one of 120 national and international partners within the CRDN network.

CRDN is the largest and most respected company of its kind. All members provide textile restoration services to customers who have experienced water or fire damage. Granted, Bell Drapery & Cleaners had previously provided limited restoration services to its customers; however, our CRDN affiliation enunciates our commitment to this division of our company.

  • Today

Today, Michael is an ever present leader at the Phoenix plant, managing a 40+ member staff. Our CRDN business led to expansion in the cities of Tucson and Flagstaff, as well as the retrofitting of a facility across the street from our main plant on 7th Street.

Asa and Mary retired in 2010; sadly, Asa passed away from Parkinson's related complications in 2018.
