New Year, New Color

Each year, leading color and trend forecasting authority, Pantone, selects a Color of the Year. This year's color, Very Peri, is all about creativity and the inspiration of the future.

"Displaying a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit, inquisitive and intriguing"
– Pantone Color Institute

Where will you use this color in your life? Office? Bedroom?

Fall Colors

Fall is the richest season by far for color. Deep, warm hues are found in the changing foliage for rich reds, oranges, and yellows. Green (Sage or Emerald) and even blue (Indigo) take on a new personality with the changing season.

Our favorite? Mustard.

Hues of this creamy color are found in leaves, flowers (take home some Mums), food and sunsets. Try a bit in your home décor, too … you don't have to paint an entire room … go with your favorite white and add a splash of golden yellow on the ceiling for a cozy feel.

It's hot. I'm sweating. Are my clothes ruined?

Perspiration is a form of protein-based stains. These stains come from organic materials that include sweat, but also blood, meat, dairy and eggs. To remove these stains, we'll use enzymes that can “digest” these proteins.

If possible, hang your clothing until it dries, then bring it in for us to handle. It never hurts to point out key area where you may want extra attention given.

Martha, Martha, Martha…

When in doubt, turn to Martha Stewart. Though we’ve posted about spring cleaning previously, perhaps you’ll want to take another look at your closet (take advantage of being inside where it is cool) and consider eliminating these items:

Old Denim If you're swimming in a sea of denim, it's time to reevaluate and identify the pairs that don't fit well (or the ones you simply don't love) and toss them.

Concert T-Shirts You'll always have the memories of your first teenage concert, but that doesn't mean you have to keep the t-shirt. It's time to let go of the shirt memorabilia, especially since they're keepsakes only.

Treating Stains

Many of us tend to grab water, or club soda, to try and remove food or liquid spilled on our clothing.

Ironically, water will set the stain, making it more difficult to remove. We ask that you simply blot the stain with a dry cloth, mark the stain -- and, if you have the time, pin a note telling us what was spilled -- and, bring it in on your next visit.
